Below are a number of extension tasks. Your teacher may require you to complete one or all of these.
Task 1:
Look at your soldier's history in a wider context. Correlate the personal history of the soldier with wider historical happenings e.g. major battles of the war, changes in leadership, the introduction of new weapons or other major historical details. You should do this in the table where you transcribe the soldier's war record in the far right column.
Task 2:
Research pictures of the places, names of boats or addresses, etc., that appear in the war record. Group these pictures in an appendix at the end of the scaffold. Give each picture a caption and reference (e.g. Pic 1.1). You can then use the references throughout the scaffold to indicate that a picture of the relevant piece of information can be found at the end.

Select one battle your soldier fought in and provide an overview of that battle including detail such as its aim, who was involved, where was it located (include a map), what tactics were used, weapons used, outcome and the significance of the battle. Use history textbooks and the internet to gather this information. Use relevant pictures, diagrams and maps to support this task.
